ABOUT US

Saint Bernards have shared our home and been part of our lives since 1986.  We are well known in our community as the people who have Saint Bernards; often we find people know our dog's name but not ours.

Our Saints have truly been part of our family and have been spoiled rotten.  The devotion you receive from a Saint Bernard makes it pretty much impossible not to spoil them.  We have been very fortunate to own Saint Bernards with show qualities; even though most have only been pets.

Back in 2007, we decided to become involved with conformation showing.  We had reached a point in our lives where our family was grown and we had more free time and some extra expendable money in our budget.  That first year we experienced the extreme highs and the extreme lows of the show world.  We had a gorgeous little girl that we had high hopes for; unfortunately she wanted nothing to do with the show ring.  We had a very experienced handler; but it was just not meant to be with her.  That same year we acquired an impressive smooth male; he received his two majors very quickly.  Even though he got his majors very easily; finishing him as a Champion took a long time.  We thought that we would campaign him as a Champion; however he became very dog aggressive so his show days ended. We tried once again with a beautiful little girl; she wowed us in the ring in the beginning.  She was a dream come true; a dog that seemed to love the show environment.  Our handler backed off on finishing her and that was a big mistake.  He believed he could finish her easily at a future date.  She became just like the first female, not allowing a judge near her; so she was never finished as a Champion.

We now understand why so many people do not stay involved with showing their dogs.  It is an expensive endeavor, the competition is tough, and it can consume all your free time.  We did not want to lose sight of our love for Saint Bernards and become caught up with chasing the elusive winning ribbons.  We do miss the conformation showing, especially our wonderful friends in the Saint Bernard community.  We try to help out at local Saint Bernard Specialties; but being on the sidelines with no entry in the competition is just not as much fun.

We do not breed our Saint Bernards.  We feel it is very important that breeding of Saint Bernards should be done in an educated and responsible manner.  Temperament and sound bodies do not just happen.  After having three different Saints in recent years with some serious temperament issues; we understand first hand how important responsible breeding is.

We are members of the Saint Bernard Club of America, the Saint Bernard Club of Southern California, and the Orange Empire Dog Club, Inc.
